We *may* have our first word.

Late this afternoon, on our way home from visitng Gramma, Toes was in the back seat very insistently babbling. While this is not that unusual, tonight she was unusually insistent that we pay attention to what she was saying.

We turned to find her pointing at the moon (which had just risen) and saying "Mnn! Mnnnn!" As soon as we acknowledged it was, in fact, the moon she was content.

Moon. :)

Thanksgiving Celebrations

We had a great Thanksgiving Holiday!

We spent TDay at UnclestoToes's house and had a great time.

Friday we had Thanksgiving at our house and had everyone over again. It was a lot of fun.

Toes got tired of me taking pictures and decided to try hiding the camera. Too bad I had a hold of it.

Toes has started refusing her highchair, so it is time for the booster seat.

Today we ran errands and picked up some upholstery fabric for the kitchen chairs we have in storage. It looks like our days of the glass topped bistro set are over for awhile.

We ended the day with a bath, where Toes showed her true gnome self.

Toes, Toes...

FansofToes have been complaining about a lack of recent pictures. So, here are a few from a week or so ago.

It was playtime with DadtoToes

Toes is doing really well. This week she is transitioning from the infant room at daycare to the pre-toddler room.

A good friend of mine who is a Childhood Development Professor told me that in her opinion, daycare centers should be more concerned about transitioning parents than they are with transitioning the children.

She is very right.

Today after Erin's speech therapy, I took her straight to the new room. She had a major meltdown as I left. I was in tears as I left the room to go to the Infant Room and drop off her lunch and coat.

Ms. Jen, who is the Assistant Director (and until recently was one of Toes's primary care givers), saw me and went to peek into the room to see how Toes was doing.

By the time I was done putting Toes's belongings away in the other room, Ms. Jen was sticking her head in to tell me that Toes wasn't crying anymore - that she was just snuffling a bit and eating a banana with the other kids.

*sigh* Such a relief. :-D

My biggest concern was how Toes would do with napping on a cot. Today was to be her first try at it.

I called around 2:30 to check how things went. I was thrilled to hear that not only had Toes napped on the cot like a pro... but that she had napped for 1 1/2 hours! Yay, Toes!!!!

The teacher put her on her cot with the binkie and her blanket. Toes sat up and looked around confused. The teacher laid her back down and stroked her. In less than a minute she was out like a light.

Apparently she was quite the hit. All the teachers peeked in on the Cuddly Cubs room to see Erin Toes sleeping like a big girl. She hasn't slept anywhere but one of her cribs in months and months. Even her carseat snoozes aren't what they used to be.

But she figured out right away that big girls sleep on cots at school.

DadtoToes was just saying this past weekend that he thinks once we turn Erin's crib into a daybed, that she will probably just toddle off and take a nap when she is ready. I think he is right.

:-D

Yay, Toes!

Let's just hope this was a real trend... and not just a first day fluke. ;-)

Now we have two blogs

As more and more people start referencing Erin's blog about her CI journey, the blog becomes less and less a place to post pics and general info on Toes.

So, I am creating another blog where family and friends can keep up on Toes. I'll continue posting CI related posts on the original blog... and will save the personal stuff for here.

Thanks for visiting!

Trick or Treat!

Toes had a nice Halloween. She enjoyed watching the kids walk up the driveway for candy. And looking at the pumpkin.

Not much to report on the CI front. She is babbling more and more. It is such a joy to hear all of these new sounds!

She transitions to the next room in daycare in a few weeks and I am pretty stressed about that. I am sure I will look back and laugh at my worry... but that is what moms are meant to do. Worry.

Pre-Halloween Dress Rehersal

Halloween is upon us!!!

I tried Toes's costume on her yesterday. Since we aren't sure how late she will make it up on Trick or Treat night, I snapped some pics.

This is what it is supposed to look like:

"Where's my Daddy? He'll fix this goofy costume."

"Please, Mommy! Where is my Daddy?"

:)

I bought some black tights for her to wear with it, since it is supposed to be chilly. We'll put her in a long sleeved t-shirt as well.

Hopefully, we'll get some pics on Halloween. But, with Trick or Treat starting at 6:00, Toes's normal bedtime being 6:30 - 7:00 and the additional factor of Daylight Savings Time kicking in, we aren't holding out much hope.

DadtoToes will be taking her around the cul de sac, then we'll likely put her right to bed.

Whoever decided to put Daylight Savings Time so close to trick or treat was apparently not the parent of a toddler.
